--I just got this today! It came fully assembled in a big, sturdy box. The cat perch was easy to slide out. ((Before you destroy the box, it could easily be repurposed as an additional feline enrichment play item.)) I placed it near a corner that I have a few of their kitty climbers set up (basically to make my own mega cat tree without it being one unit that cant be moved around much). Placing it among the familiar items is just to introduce them to the brand new item, and to pique curiosity. That is my advice to you, especially if no one is taking an interest in it at first. Eventually I will find a new location for it. Next, and also a bit of advice, was to sprinkle on a generous dose of cat nip. One by one each of our four adult cats came over to check out the new item (ages ranging from 6-17). They jumped on it, sniffed it, got a good whiff of cat nip, scratched at the carpet, chewed on the feather, rubbed up on it, etc. Our two young labs were also intrigued. I will be adding pictures of everyone to show scale, and to show the material it is made of.--I didn't notice it in the description, but I see it now, is that attached is a very nice feather toy that dangles under top perch. Feathers are a favorite in this household, so this was a pleasant surprise. Nice touch!! (now hopefully my labs leave it alone!)--After looking at reviews, I chose this based on how sturdy it appeared, and that it uses wood composite (oriented strand board?) instead of, and real carpeting over short napped/smooth material that some climbers have (that my cats don't love). It was as nice as expected, as sturdy as I hoped for (this thing is not going to just tip over during a cat running up or down it) and the cats LOVE the feel of the REAL carpeting. The sisal wrapped scratching areas are higher up on the climber which shows that the designer has cats or at least understands cats. Additionally, the two perches are positioned in such a manner that it can easily be climbed up (or used as a climber to get to other high spaces). This is good use of space. The spacing between the two perches is adequate for cats to sit, sleep or play. The space between base and lowest perch has the least amount of space, but it is an area that is often dismissed anyway (though appears still enough room for a cat to crawl through). I had seen the similar sized but slightly different design of the other Large perch/condo offered by this company, and it was the spacing between each level that bought me to buying this one. The other had an additional perch, but given that they are same height, the spacing between each is less, and I am thinking most cats would prefer a little more space and less cramped feel. I am glad I went with this one.--The other aspect that I like is that each perch has three low sides to it. It offers enough material to feel cozy, yet not so much that it hinders climbing or play behavior. The top perch is wide with short depth, and the bottom perch is more narrow but much longer/deeper. Both offer a lot of space without infringing on the other. While I don't see the base as hanging out/sleeping space, it is conducive to floor play, or toy storage. I can picture my cats batting toys around the base, or using the frame to pull themselves around.--I will be curious how long the sisal twine stays attached, as well as the carpet. It appears to be attached well, but time will tell.--Pleasant neutral color- beige.--This would also be nice and sturdy for small dogs. The dimensions of the unit and the perches are listed in the description, and this one would be quite adequate for a small to small/med dog to sit on.
